We get the pleasure of welcoming Edelbrand Pure Distilling into our space for another tasting this weekend! But this time, we also get to play around with one of their brandy’s and create a cocktail that’s available behind the bar this Friday night AND we’re going to give you the recipe to be able to recreate it in your own home bar. It’s easy to replicate at home
Let’s get to mixing!
Ingredients
1/2oz Edelbrand Pear Brandy
1.5oz Rye Whiskey (we used Old Overholt)
3/4oz Blueberry Simple Syrup**
3/4oz Lemon Juice
1/2oz Ginger Juice (we used The Ginger People – it’s accessible, organic, and delicious! A great juice to keep stocked in your home bar)
3 dashes Orange Angostura Bitters
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
2oz (or splash to taste) of Pear cider of your choice (we used Poiré de Normandie from Clos de Citots, France)
Directions
Add all of your ingredients except for your Pear Cider into a cocktail shaker tin and add fresh ice
Shake, shake, shake!
Strain your cocktail mixture into your chosen glass (a wine glass or coupe is preferred) and garnish with a skewer of blueberries or a lemon wheel
Cheers to your hard work and enjoy!
Blueberry Simple Syrup**
To make simple syrup, you will need a saucepan, water, sugar, and your blueberries. Take two handfuls and muddle the blueberries to break and open them up. Sprinkle a bit of sugar over your berries and set aside. You’ll want to use a ratio of one cup of water to one cup of sugar for a simple syrup. Add the water and sugar to the saucepan and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Then, turn up the heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, adding your muddle blueberries. Once it reaches that simmering point, remove it from the heat and let it cool. After 1-2 hours, you’ll strain your syrup to remove the blueberries. That’s it! Your simple syrup is now ready to use. Keep refrigerated, and your simple syrup without any infusion is good for up to three weeks once bottled.
